of this WWW site I have been maintaining this site for about seven years. Sometimes it seems to have been 'forever'; usually, it seems brand new and fresh. I am frequently asked how to save a page or how to deal with a hard drive full of pages already saved. Frequently, I'm begged for "the other shoe" - the rest of a performance I was able only to excerpt here. By putting the collection of pages onto a CD-ROM, I am able to satisfy both requests. The "WWW3" disc covers the last year and a bit of the site and does it rather more than less. That is, it has some pages which have not yet appeared here, some which may never show up, and completions of programs previously excerpted. In addition to the rest of the "Omaggio a Caruso" recital with some stars of 1973, there are several complete operas. For the Complete (4 act) Don Carlos in russian alone this CD-rom is a bargain. The garden scene includes the ballet which works very well and maintains the "tinta" (for me) - when I have heard the ballet music (in other recordings) it made little impression. Oddly, the vocal lines sung in russian sound wonderful. Whether the perfect balance of voice and orchestra is due to the sung Russian or whatever - if you like Don Carlos you'll love this.
There is so much on this CD-rom - I'll just mention one more - Faure's Songcycle " La bonne chanson", Op. 61 sung by Hugues Cuénod - I had never heard of this song cycle or this singer - a very pleasant surprise.
