DVD 9987 WAR REQUIEM (Britten)

The sound and video do show their age on this DVD. (It was made in 1964.) So there are better sounding and looking performances of the War Requiem. However, the historical value of this is off the charts. As far as I know it's the only film of Britten conducting the the WR. (He conducts the chamber orchestra.) This performance also features two of the three original soloist. (Pears and Harper) It's thrilling to watch. Highly recommended for Britten fans!
