DVD 5528 LA FORZA DEL DESTINO (Verdi)

I cannot add anything to the previous reviews. Forget the rather primitive scenery and concentrate on the singers all in their PRIME!! If I could go back in tinge, I would be in this audience.

If Reanta Tebaldi is one of your favorite singers this, in my opinion is one of her best performances and it is certainly the Forza ever recorded. It is a must in every opera lover's collection.

"The stuff that dreams are made of" with a "golden age" cast.

Grainy black and white,shot at Teatro San Carlo in Naples, but good sound.No matter what Forza you already have..this one is necessary,too. Good to have the very young Corelli on film, and the rare performances of the star baritone of the 50s, Bastianini, and the star basso, Christoff.But the main reason to have this is the Leonora of Tebaldi..for those of us who actually saw her on stage in this role,it iS a reminder of yes, she was that special, and so perfect in this,one of Verdis most demanding spinto roles.
