Riveting performance

Ardent,beautiful,singing and emotionally charged performances. Singing and acting are unified here in a forceful way. One of the best DVDs I've found on this site.

that grabbed your interest and attention. I had no idea what this opera was about or what to expect, but it has English subtitles, so I figured I could follow along. It was a modern production of a rather archaic love story gone wrong. Great cast and singing and music. At the end of act two when the main character is singing a heartbreaking lament, the subtitles ceased. This also happened near the finale. Other than these aggravations. the opera was well done.
