Europe, 6/2024. Fairground for adventure seekers, place of nostalgic dreams, green oasis of peace, meeting place of cultures and culinary delights, habitat of contrasts: the Vienna Prater. For the third time, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra is inviting the whole family and guests of the city to the Kaiserwiese in front of the spectacular backdrop of the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel, just in time for the start of the holidays: the Vienna Prater Picnic as a musical homage to Vienna, its residents and their everyday stories. A musical potpourri from operetta to musicals to Viennese songs and pop is offered in an exuberant and convention-free manner. It traces a musical tradition that attracted countless entertainment seekers from the middle of the 19th century well into the 20th century. In addition to Annette Dasch and Georg Nigl, the musician Julian le Play, who has won five Amadeus Awards, will also perform in front of the Ferris Wheel together with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the conductor Dirk Kaftan. Teresa Vogl will lead the humorous music program.
