Ring in 2024, the Year of the Dragon, with a grand concert in the famed Hamburg Elbphilharmonie as the China National Traditional Orchestra, conducted by Li Xincao, performs a delightfully spirited program featuring renowned performers on traditional Chinese instruments: Ding Xiaokui on the dizi (a transverse flute), Duan Chao on the erhu (the two-stringed fiddle with a highly distinctive sound), Yang Zhijian on the guqin (a plucked seven-string instrument, sometimes referred to as the "father of Chinese music"), and on the pipa, similar to a lute, the CNTO's own artistic director Zhao Cong!
