The George and Nora London Foundation for Singers offers substantial awards to the most promising performers through its 52nd annual juried competition for outstanding young North American opera singers. This year's judges will be Harolyn Blackwell, Susan Quittmeyer, Susanne Mentzer, Dimitri Pittas and James Morris. Michael Fennelly is the event’s pianist for the final round, which will be followed by the awards announcement. The George and Nora London Foundation Competition has announced the winners of its 2024 edition.
The winners include Katerina Burton from Ocean City, MD, who sang “Tu che le vanità;” Emily Treigle from New Orleans, who sang “Iris, hence away;” Erin Wagner from El Paso, who interpreted “Sein wir wieder gut;” Samuel White from Columbia, SC, who presented “Amfortas! Die Wunde;” Benjamin Dickerson from Burlington, VT, who took on “Nemico della patria;” and Darren Drone from Sherwood, AR, who sang an aria from “Gianni Schicchi.”
Each of the winners will receive a $12,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, the Encouragement Award winners, each receiving $2,000, include Adia Evans, Renée Richardson, Emily Rocha, Cierra Byrd, Bergsvein Toverud, and Ben Strong.
