Star soprano Renée Fleming has always liked to go on artistic journeys of discovery beyond the big opera stages. She also sang chansons, jazz and pop with colleagues such as Luciano Pavarotti, Lou Reed, Wynton Marsalis, Paul Simon and Sting. She appeared on Broadway and also lent her voice to the soundtracks of Oscar-winning cinema productions such as The Shape of Water or Lord of the Rings . Her numerous awards include five Grammys, the Polar Music Prize and the ECHO Klassik.
She is also dedicated to communicating music in a variety of ways and frequently hosts programs, including those from the Metropolitan Opera.
Her cinematic journey to the musical cities of Venice and Paris was a matter of personal concern to her. She not only roams through the rich musical history of the cities, but also discovers special sights and anecdotes. In Venice, for example, she has the proper preparation of an aperitif explained to her - and is fascinated by the fact that at "La Fenice" you actually drive up in the gondola to go to the opera.
